When I read guys` Myspace from the Beyond The Awakened, that their influences are Trivium`s band songs, my favourite band, the cradle of metalcore music - and Bullet For My Valentine - album "The Poison" is for me equally important point in grade - I thought: 'Damn, U set your ledge high!'

In a land where all bands pound recently fashionable deathcore, there is a shadow of hope for the good, old carving. Difficult task, because you have to really try to come up with catchy, melodic piece ... But never mind, earphones on ears and go!
It begins quietly by "Ashes of Sanity" piece. Calm is a relative concept - good rocking riff, matching "puta puta" ,good changes of perks(drums?) beatings make it nice to hear. Vocal - BFMV from the old days going on full steam. Is it good? for me yea:]! But one thing immediately began to make me nervous. This is a mix of vocals. It is very flat, zero to any depth. As far as clean sounds are even tolerably, screamy lose a lot by lack of depth and bass. Continue to listening we have new, interesting, hard and fast riff; the piece is spinning up and suddenly another ploy from not known where. The number is really an interesting thought, but I think more than 6,5min for the opening demo it is an exaggeration. I have the impression that half of the riffs are there thrown by force. You can`t give all the good moves in one piece. Another 2 numbers could be built on melodies from the last two minutes of the work. It was nice, but the guys are problably wanted to do it as well. But it`s ok, we will see what happnes.
"Behold the Beast" and the first fundamental point - the instrumental track has no right to be on EP. It is a suicide. Assuming that a potential producer spends at about 30 - 50 seconds on each piece of record, you lose a lot right from the start. But it is just my little advice for the future. Returning to the same piece - the pulp!!! The number incredibly addictive, while listening to the first riff I had goose-bumps. In my mind one word - Trivium. Of course it is very good, we should learn from the best. The next licks are excellent ripped with each other, delicate solo also fits with a whole. A final batch is a true fairy tale, terribly original exit of the number. I understand that Beyond The Awakened wanted to approach the matter differently by giving an instrumental demo, but this is simply not done. Despite the fact that it is great ...
Like the two previous pieces I was not sure, so here 'Lullabies End "puts me on my knees ... Great, and ones again great thanks guys for such work! Something beautiful, I I found no fault. Opening riff moved me to the past, where ruled strong, melodic guitars and drums are constantly working. Fitting blasts, screaming and pure vocals in the chorus - that's great. Solo - maybe middle part of this is slightly bothers me, but it is rather a matter of taste. Immediately after solo part, crushing lick which all day was sitting in my head. And as the last words of the song "One More Time" - I fire the piece ones again.
Finishing shortly, dropping to the mixer a little old core like Trivium, All That Romains, BFMV, and adding the innovative approach to the topic - it will be just EP Beyond The Awakened - "Lucid Dream". I wouldnt recommend it for everyone who is looking for new heavy sounds. For 'old' metalcores old stagers - mandatory item.
